Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin base game - 3x5 reel grid with fruit symbols and coin values, four jackpot tiers displayed across the top

Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin - Dual-Collect Hold & Win With a 20x Multiplier Ceiling

RTP 95.65% · 1,707-Spin Test · 4 Fixed Jackpots · 9 Bonus Rounds Logged

Two collect types on reel 2 instead of one - that is the only structural change Playson made to the Thunder Coins formula for the March 2026 release, and it is the change worth testing. Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin uses the same 3x5 grid, same coin-and-collect base game, but adds a second collect type on reel 2 called MULTICOIN COLLECT - it multiplies the accumulated coin total by up to 20x before paying. That one change shifts what a single bonus round can deliver.

I ran 1,707 spins in the Playson demo to see how it plays out. The game launches on a plain black screen with a grey, unlit PLAY label at center - no animated intro.

Grid, Controls, and Base Game

Three reels, five rows, 15 fixed paylines. Fruit symbols across the grid: oranges, lemons, plums, cherries, plus red sevens acting as Wilds. Standard setup for the Thunder Coins format.

The jackpot bar runs across the top in four color-coded boxes: GRAND (red, 1000x), MAJOR (gold, 100x), MINOR (teal, 30x), MINI (purple, 15x). At EUR 1.00 bet all four tiers show before the first spin. Values scale proportionally with bet size - at EUR 0.10 bet the GRAND pays EUR 100.

Left panel holds the game logo, coin pile illustration, the EXTRA BETS toggle, and an orange BONUS button with a shopping-cart icon at the bottom. Right side has Autoplay at the top and a HOLD FOR TURBO skip button. Credit / Last Win / Bet controls sit along the bottom bar.

Thunder Coin Mechanics - Two Collect Types

Thunder Coin symbols land on reels 1 and 3. Each coin shows an individual EUR value on its face. Reel 2 is where the collect happens, and it comes in two forms.

Thunder Coin COLLECT: sums all Thunder Coin values visible on reels 1 and 3, pays directly.

MULTICOIN COLLECT: does the same sum, then multiplies the total by up to 20x before paying.

Per the Playson press release via LCB: "Thunder Coins add all Coin values directly to the win, while MULTICOIN combines values before applying a multiplier of up to 20x."

If coins land on reels 1 and 3 without a collect on reel 2, two automatic base-game features can create a pathway: Random MULTICOIN (a MULTICOIN symbol may appear randomly on reel 2 if coins are present without a collect) and Pile of Gold (can add additional coin symbols after any coin lands, expanding the coin pool). Both run without any Extra Bet cost.

The base-game collect resolves within the same spin - no Hold & Win board, no respins. A late-session checkpoint showed four Thunder Coins on the right reel with LAST WIN reading 10x, indicating a base-game collect that fired and resolved without entering the bonus round.

Thunder Coins XXL Multicoin Hold and Win mid-round with X2 MULTICOIN multiplier active - coins 15.00 and 16.00 locked, credit 10,966.00
MULTICOIN COLLECT - Bonus 3 (spin 346) mid-round: X2 multiplier indicator replacing the left panel logo, coins 15.00 and 16.00 locked. Credit EUR 10,966.00 at bet EUR 1.00. This round paid 46x on completion.

Hold & Win Bonus

Hold & Win triggers when Thunder Coin symbols on reels 1 and 3 pair with a collect symbol on reel 2. The grid transforms: background shifts to deep blue with a full-screen lightning-bolt motif, standard symbols clear, and only Thunder Coin positions and empty cell placeholders remain.

Three respins to start. The respin counter on the left shows three boxes: 1 / 2 / 3. Each time a new coin locks into an open cell, the counter resets to 3. Accumulated coin values build in the round total. When the counter drops to zero with no new landing, the round ends and pays.

If a MULTICOIN COLLECT triggered the feature, the left panel's game logo area is replaced by a large X[N] multiplier indicator. During Bonus 3 in my session (spin 346), that indicator showed X2 while the board was still filling - readable mid-round while the sequence was running.

Coins lock with their EUR values printed on the face and visible at landing. Values I observed across 9 session bonuses ranged from 1x to 56x at EUR 1.00 bet. All four jackpot tiers can land during Hold & Win, the same as in the base game.

Thunder Coins XXL Multicoin Hold and Win bonus board active - three gold coins locked showing values 14.00, 1.00, 14.00, respin counter at 3, credit 10,753.00
HOLD & WIN - active bonus board, credit EUR 10,753.00 at bet EUR 1.00. Three coins locked (14.00 + 1.00 + 14.00), respin counter at 3 on the left panel. Empty cells remain open for further landings.

Bonus Buy and Extra Bets

Three tiers from the BONUS button in the left panel:

  • Tier 1 (75x bet): increased Hold & Win trigger probability
  • Tier 2 (175x bet): further increased probability
  • Tier 3 (250x bet): guarantees a collect symbol - every activation is a Hold & Win round

At EUR 0.10 minimum bet: Tier 1 costs EUR 7.50, Tier 3 costs EUR 25.00. At EUR 1.00: EUR 75, EUR 175, EUR 250.

Two Extra Bets toggle in the left panel below the coin pile: Double Chance (raises base-game bonus trigger probability per spin) and THUNDERCOIN Spin (guarantees a collect symbol and increases trigger chances per spin).

I tested with both Extra Bets off for the full 1,707 spins. Tier 3 at 250x gives a guaranteed collect on every press - useful for skipping base-game variance, but at EUR 250 per activation at EUR 1.00 bet, the bonus needs to produce something meaningful to justify it.

My Session - 1,707 Spins

I ran 1,707 spins in the Playson demo at EUR 1.00 per spin. No Extra Bets, no Bonus Buy. Here is what the session produced.

Hold & Win triggered 9 times across those 1,707 spins - roughly once every 190 spins in this session. Three of those nine arrived in a 23-spin cluster: triggers at spins 323, 337, and 346, paying 98x, 91x, and 46x respectively. That cluster (235x combined) was the only stretch where my credit moved above the EUR 11,000 I opened with; the peak was EUR 11,012.

After that cluster the gaps widened. The next trigger came at spin 525. The last arrived at spin 1532, and the final 175 spins of the session ran cold.

Respin counts per bonus ranged from 4 (Bonus 7, spin 922) to 14 (Bonus 8, spin 1053). Average was just under 10 per round. The 14-respin sequence paid 74x with no multiplier coins - coin value accumulation alone over a long sequence. My session high, 112x, came from Bonus 6 at spin 887: two 56x coins locked in, no multiplier coins at all. The best result I logged had nothing to do with the MULTICOIN feature.

The MULTICOIN multiplier was active in Bonuses 1, 3, 4, and 9. Highest multiplier coin observed was 5x in Bonus 9 (80x total). The 20x ceiling did not appear across 9 bonuses.

Base-game hit rate was about one paying spin in seven. Longest dry streak was 33 consecutive non-winning spins. Base-game pays averaged around 3x. Bonus rounds accounted for roughly 46% of total session wins.

When Hold & Win fires, the audio changes - something with a different weight comes through in the mix. That change arrives before the bonus board has fully settled into view. After four or five triggers in the session, I was picking up that audio cue as the first sign the feature had fired.

Thunder Coins XXL Multicoin Bonus 6 session high - two 56.00 coins locked on Hold and Win board, 1 respin remaining, credit 10,753.00
SESSION HIGH - Bonus 6 (spin 887), credit EUR 10,753.00 at bet EUR 1.00. Two 56.00 coins locked on the board with 1 respin remaining. Final payout: 112x (EUR 112.00), no multiplier coins involved.

Session Progression

Session Observed RTP

Wagered: EUR 1,707 (1,707 spins × EUR 1.00). Returned: EUR 1,340.50 (total coins paid out across the session). Observed RTP: 1,340.50 / 1,707 = 78.53%. Single-session figure only - not predictive of long-run return.

Test limitations: This session ran in the Playson demo with virtual credits. 1,707 spins is enough to observe the trigger mechanic, log the respin range, and confirm how the two collect types behave in practice. It is not enough to establish a reliable long-run trigger rate - that requires tens of thousands of spins. The GRAND jackpot (1000x) did not land. The MAJOR jackpot (100x) did not land as a jackpot tier; my 112x result came from coin accumulation, not a jackpot hit. These are session-specific absences.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Dual collect mechanic adds an outcome split absent from single-collect Hold & Win formats
  • 4-tier fixed jackpot ladder with MINI 15x accessible frequently enough that the jackpot bar does not feel decorative
  • RTP 95.65% confirmed across three independent sources (ClashOfSlots, marvn.ai, Livebet)
  • Pile of Gold and Random MULTICOIN give landing coins a second trigger pathway without extra cost
  • 14% base-game hit rate produces regular micro-wins between Hold & Win sequences
  • 3-tier Bonus Buy with 75x entry option for players who prefer to skip base-game variance

Cons

  • Entire win potential concentrated in Hold & Win - no free spins, no cascades, no expanding wilds as an alternative payout stream
  • MULTICOIN multiplier ceiling is 20x per specs; highest multiplier coin in 9 session bonuses was 5x
  • Stated max win of ~7,426x is from a single unverified database entry; Playson has not officially disclosed a max win figure
  • Operator RTP variant at 94.65% is a real step down - that one percentage point adds up faster than it looks at casual session lengths
  • Provider page Cloudflare-blocked at time of testing - independent paytable verification not possible

How Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin Compares

The closest relative in the Playson catalog is Thunder Coins XXL: Hold and Win - same 3x5 grid, same base coin mechanic, single collect type on reel 2. The MULTICOIN collect is the only structural difference. In practice: Hold and Win produces more consistent bonus outcomes because every collect is a direct sum; Multicoin adds an upside range but also more spread between bonus results. Five of my nine bonuses had zero multiplier coins - those rounds played identically to what a Thunder Coins XXL: Hold and Win bonus would produce.

Playson also released Timeless Diamonds: Hold and Win in the same March 2026 batch - a 3x3 grid Hold & Win with stacking multiplier symbols that settle at position. Smaller board, different multiplier delivery mechanism, same Hold & Win family from the same developer release period.

For a cross-format reference: Coin Strike: Hold and Win (Playson) uses a 3x3 grid with a dedicated Strike Bonus on reel 2 rather than the Thunder Coins split-collect system. Smaller board, different multiplier delivery, same volatility territory.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the RTP of Thunder Coins XXL: Multicoin?

The standard figure is 95.65%, confirmed across ClashOfSlots, marvn.ai, and Livebet. A 94.65% operator variant is also reported by marvn.ai. Playson's own page was inaccessible at time of testing. The actual RTP in any casino is operator-configured - check before depositing.

What is the maximum win?

Playson has not officially disclosed a maximum win for this title. The largest jackpot shown in-game is the GRAND at 1000x the bet. One database entry lists approximately 7,426x - from a single unverified snippet and not confirmed by Playson. The MULTICOIN multiplier at 20x applied to a high-value coin board is the mechanism for the largest potential results, but the theoretical maximum has not been published.

How does Hold & Win trigger?

Thunder Coin symbols on reels 1 and 3 need to pair with a collect symbol on reel 2 in the same spin. If coins land without a collect, the Random MULTICOIN and Pile of Gold features can still activate to create a trigger pathway without any extra cost.

Is there a free spins feature?

No. Hold & Win respins are the only bonus format. There are no free spins, no scatter triggers, and no pick-and-click bonus.

What does the MULTICOIN multiplier do?

When a MULTICOIN COLLECT lands on reel 2, it sums all Thunder Coin values on reels 1 and 3, then applies a multiplier of up to 20x before paying. The standard Thunder Coin COLLECT performs the same sum without the multiplier.

How does Bonus Buy work?

Three tiers: 75x bet, 175x bet, 250x bet. Tier 3 at 250x guarantees a collect symbol, making every activation a direct Hold & Win round entry. Extra Bets (Double Chance and THUNDERCOIN Spin) are separate optional cost-per-spin features and are not the same as the Bonus Buy.

What are the jackpot tiers?

Four fixed tiers at EUR 1.00 bet: MINI (EUR 15), MINOR (EUR 30), MAJOR (EUR 100), GRAND (EUR 1,000). Values scale proportionally with bet size. All four tiers can land in the base game and during Hold & Win. These are fixed amounts, not progressive pools.
